Zero Together is guided by the best available global, national and regional information and scientific evidence. For example, Dublin’s Energy Agency, Codema, recently published the Dublin Region Energy Master Plan. This three-year study, which is the first of its kind to be carried out for any city or town in Ireland, identifies the greatest potential to reduce emissions related to heat, electricity, transport and buildings in Dublin.
These five solutions are known as the 5 by 2050; District Heating, Offshore Wind and Solar, Building Upgrades, Energy Planning and Transport. Read more on these solutions by clicking the button below.
Get informedPut very simply, the Master Plan looked at ‘what should go where’ for every part of Dublin, based on the type of area it is and the technologies that are best suited to reducing energy-related emissions within that area. The Master Plan also brings together national government plans and policies to show the impact they will have on Dublin.
This research addresses the gap between the national Climate Action Plan that deals with the entire country and the Local Authorities’ Climate Change Action Plans that specifically deal with the councils’ remit. Although both of these plans are needed, it is also crucial to provide a pathway for Dublin as an entire region, based on the county’s specific characteristics, to meet our emission-reduction targets. The Dublin Region Energy Master Plan addresses this gap detailing what solutions are available and realistic to move the county away from fossil fuels.
This Dublin Region Energy Master Plan is just one example of the world class research that will continue to guide the Zero Together initiative. Read the Dublin Region Energy Master Plan Summary Report and download the full report on the Codema website.
