Zero Together attends launch of All-Island Better Democracy Network
Zero Together attended the launch of the All-Island Better Democracy Network on Thursday, 21st March. The Better Democracy Network brings together people and organisations from across the island of Ireland seeking to strengthen democracy and improve public participation.
At Zero Together, we believe democracy, deliberation and public participation should be at the heart of the energy transition. Collaboration is central to Zero Together as it is widely agreed that no single organisation, individual or sector can fully transform Dublin into a clean, healthy and emission-free region. We need to work together.
Thursday’s event was a ‘Democracy Lounge’ encouraging conversation and deliberation on the question: ‘What kind of democracy would you like to live in?’ A diversity of perspectives and ideas allowed for a lively discussion on topics like meaningful public engagement, active citizenship and civic education, and creating spaces for people to come together to hold these kinds of discussions.
As members of the All-Island Better Democracy Network, we hope to find opportunities to collaborate with others on the island of Ireland seeking to improve public participation, particularly in the energy and climate space, and share our own experiences as we seek to move Dublin towards a low-carbon future, and bring those living, working and studying in the county on that journey with us.
